Affordable Tobago Airbnb: Your Island Getaway

If you’re looking for a charming, unique and affordable stay in Tobago, this Airbnb should be at the top of your list. During our December 2018 trip to Trinidad and Tobago we spent 4 nights at Michael and Marilyn’s Airbnb in Bon Accord. This place offers more than a place to sleep – it provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and culture of Tobago. Experience what living island life really feels like!
Here’s my full review and everything you need to know about this Airbnb.
Location Overview: A Slice of Paradise in Tobago
Located just a short drive from the lively town of Scarborough, this Airbnb property offers a perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. Situated in a quiet neighborhood, it’s the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to explore some of Tobago’s top attractions.
The property is just a few minutes away (walking distance) from some of the island’s most beautiful beaches, like Store Bay and Pigeon Point, where you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, or relaxing under the Caribbean sun. The vibrant local market in Scarborough is also nearby, where you can shop for fresh produce, local crafts, and souvenirs.
The specific neighbourhood felt very safe and I was comfortable walking around on my own,
One of the things I loved about this Airbnb was its proximity to local restaurants and cultural experiences. I enjoyed several delicious meals of Tobago’s famed curried crab and dumplings, and I was able to chat with locals to get a true feel for island life. The location truly made it easy to enjoy all that Tobago has to offer while still offering a peaceful retreat at the end of each day.

Accommodation Overview: Affordable Tobago Airbnb
the property
The Airbnb itself was a cozy, private apartment nestled in lush surroundings. It’s perfect for couples, solo travelers, or even small families looking for an intimate getaway. The unit had a warm, welcoming vibe with a lovely blend of traditional Caribbean decor and modern comforts.
The Airbnb is the first floor apartment while the hosts occupy the second floor apartment. The hosts – Michael and Marion – were excellent. We spoke with them a few times but they were not in our business by any means. Micheal had gifted us a sugar cane – we took it home, cut it up and enjoyed it (see pictures at the end of this post).
There are incredible outdoor photo opportunities – from the lush botanicals as backgrounds or in the pool.
the unit
The property can sleep up to 5 people – although I think 2 or 3 people is the max you would want to stay with comfortably. The bedroom has 1 queen size and 1 single size bed. The living room has a full size sleeper sofa which offers the perfect place to relax and watch a movie or TV after a long day of exploring.
There is a kitchenette. Don’t expect a spacious or full sized kitchen but it has everything you need for a short stay. We made some amazing breakfasts (eggs, onion, sausage, hops) on the small stove burner. I still think of breakfasts enjoyed from this kitchenette. We even made a pelau one night. There are so many great foods to try on the island, so we mainly ate out for lunch and dinner to experience the cuisine.
The highlight for me was the outdoor yard area – we loved chiling in the hammock, vibing in the pool and just sitting around taking in all of the scenery and sounds of island life. The gentle breeze and quiet setting made it a perfect spot to sip coffee in the mornings or unwind with a drink in the evening.

Pricing and Booking Tips: Value for Money
Prices typically range between $75–$100 USD per night for this unit, depending on the time of year, which is quite affordable considering the location and comfort it provided.
The best time to book this property is during the off-peak months (May to October) for better deals. However, if you’re visiting during the busy Christmas or Carnival season, be sure to book well in advance as Tobago is a popular destination during this time.
Booking was easy through the Airbnb platform and the host was very responsive with clear instructions on how to reach the property and check-in. I also appreciated the detailed guide the host provided, which included recommendations for nearby attractions, restaurants, and things to do.
