The view of the airbnb pool overlooking the Atlantic ocean

If you’re looking for a cozy and peaceful retreat in Tobago, then this vacation property is an excellent choice. Moreover, when planning your trip to this stunning Caribbean island, you should consider staying here. During our stay, it provided everything we needed for a relaxing and memorable vacation. In addition, the epic pool and breathtaking views were standout features. Consequently, the blog post below will give you a detailed look at our experience and what you can expect if you decide to stay here. Finally, don’t forget to read until the end to see the full gallery of pictures.

Location Overview: An Epic Spot with Easy Access to Tobago’s Best Beaches

This vacation property is located in a tranquil area of Tobago known as Barcolet, just a short drive from some of the island’s best beaches, shops, and restaurants. The property is about a 15-minute drive from ANR Robinson International Airport, making it easily accessible. The property feels secluded enough to offer a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, yet it’s conveniently close to everything you need for an enjoyable holiday.

Tobago is surrounded by two different bodies of water – the Caribbean sea, where you will find the mesmerizing clear turquoise blue waters, and the Atlantic ocean, where you will find darker and rougher waters. This property is located on Atlantic seaside. We witnessed a couple storms roll through the ocean waters far out in the distance and it was mesmerizing.  I loved the quiet surroundings, which made it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring.

The nearby town of Scarborough, the island’s capital, is only a 15-minute drive away. Popular local beaches, like Store Bay and Pigeon Point, are just a short drive away, offering opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea as well.

On this particular trip to Tobago we had stayed the first couple of nights on the island at Coco Reef Resort. We spent all of our time at the resorts private beach and nearby Store Bay and Pigeon Point. As a result we opted to explore other areas of the island closer by such as Speyside and Englishman’s Bay.

Dining in Tobago: Embrace the Local Food Scene

The most important thing to note is the proximity to many amazing restaurants and local cuisine.

This vacation property has no kitchen, dining area, etc. so you need to 1) get really creative with preparing and eating meals or 2) use this opportunity to explore the food of the island. We opted for option 2 and enjoyed many great meals. One of our all-time favourite restaurants is Fish Pot – I highly recommend you eat here on your next trip to Tobago. Let me know your favourite Tobago food recommendations in the comments below!

Based on the need to go off property for basically every meal – I would highly recommend you have a car rental if you are staying here to make getting around easier.

Accommodation Overview: A Cozy Retreat

The Property

What drew us to this Airbnb in the first place was the pool and ocean views. At the time we visited there were 3 units on the property – the main house where the hosts Mark and Janice lived, the seaside unit where we stayed and one additional airbnb unit. At the time of our stay, there was an Austrian backpacking couple occupying the other unit whom have been travelling around the world. They selected Tobago as a destination due to its untouched natural beauty and affordability. Hearing their travelling stories made for unforgettable conversation on the deck. I was impressed with their fearless-ness, navigating the island by foot and exploring the depths of the rain forest.

When we were not out exploring the island you could find us relaxing in bed (with ocean views visible), swimming in the beautiful pool or just liming on the deck – taking in the breathtaking views. The property offers endless incredible backdrops for photoshoots.

What I loved most was the outdoor space—there was a small private garden area where I could relax in the evenings with a drink or simply enjoy the sounds of nature. This peaceful setting truly enhanced the overall experience and provided a much-needed retreat from the outside world. We got to know the hosts Mark and Janice talking un the stars and moonlight.

the seaside unit

The seaside unit is small, composed of a bedroom and bathroom only, but it felt like a beautifully designed hotel room. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom was clean and functional, with a spacious shower. The space can be cooled with the AC unit or opening the window – but you need to be careful with this as the winds from the sea can be very powerful and destructive.

As mentioned above, there is no kitchen or dining area in the unit. There is a microwave, mini fridge, kettle and minimal dish ware/utensils. This is not the vacation property to stay in if you prefer to buy groceries and cook the majority of your meals. We had instant coffee and some bread to get us started in the mornings. We enjoyed lunch and dinner by purchasing from local restaurants. The fridge and microwave is convenient for storing and heating up restaurant leftovers.

Pricing and Booking Tips: Affordable and Great Value for the Location

The average nightly rate is around $100–$130 USD, which is great value given the location, pool and view. Click here to checkout the airbnb listing and book your stay.

Booking was straightforward via the Airbnb platform. The host was very communicative and provided all the necessary information for a smooth check-in and check-out process. We did not have trouble navigating to the property in our rental car. While the property doesn’t offer direct airport transfers, taxis are readily available at the airport, or you can arrange private transportation in advance.

I recommend booking well in advance, especially if you’re traveling during peak seasons (December to April). However, even during the off-peak months, I found it to be a great value for the price.

Pros and Cons: What I Loved and What Could Be Improved

Pros:

  • Quiet and Relaxing: The peaceful surroundings made for a truly relaxing vacation. It was easy to unwind and enjoy some much-needed downtime.
  • Outdoor Oasis: We loved the pool, small garden and deck area. It made this airbnb unforgettable.
  • Comfortable and Cozy: The apartment was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated, making it feel like a home away from home. The bed was especially cozy, and I slept great throughout my stay.
  • Great Value: Given the amenities and location, I felt this Airbnb was an excellent value for the price. It was a budget-friendly choice without sacrificing quality or comfort.

Cons:

  • Kitchen: There is no kitchen so if you prefer to buy groceries and cook, this would not be the location for you.
  • Size: Unfortunately due to the size, you are limited with the size of group that can stay here. This is the perfect spot for solo travellers or a couple.
