Paria Suites Review: Affordable Hotel Stay in Southern Trinidad
If you’re looking for an affordable, relaxing and comfortable stay in the heart of Trinidad, Paria Suites in Pointe-à-Pierre offers the perfect mix of modern amenities, peaceful surroundings, and great service. Whether you’re in Trinidad for business or leisure, Paria Suites provides a welcoming escape that will make your stay memorable.
We had to leave our airbnb a day earlier than our scheduled flight – so we checked in to Paria Suites for the night which was a short distance away.

Location: Convenient but Not Central
Paria Suites is located in Pointe-à-Pierre, about 20 minutes from San Fernando and an hour from Port of Spain. It’s a quiet spot surrounded by greenery, making it a peaceful retreat, though it’s best suited for travelers with a car. While not beachfront, it offers easy access to key attractions like Clifton Hill, Pitch Lake and San Fernando Hill.

Rooms: Spacious but a Little Dated
We stayed in a Superior Room, which was clean and comfortable, though in need of some updates. The room featured a king-sized bed, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, and a work desk. Some rooms have private balconies overlooking the greenery or pool. The bathroom was functional but had the strangest layout and shape.
I forgot to take pictures of the room upon arrival so excuse the mess prior to checking out.

Amenities: Decent for the Price
- Outdoor Pool & Bar: We didn’t have time to swim but the pool looked nice. A nice spot to relax, with affordable drinks and snacks.
- On-Site Restaurant: Offers local and international dishes, but options are limited. Breakfast includes tropical fruits, pastries, and eggs made to order on slow days. On busier days it is buffet style.
- Conference Facilities: Available for business travelers, though I didn’t use them.
- Great views of the Caribbean Sea from most of the rooms and The Lobby bar.

The Downsides
- No elevator – we (Rich) had to carry luggage up three flights. The doorman/security guard is available to assist.
- The decor and interiors could use an update.
- Limited Dining Options: While the hotel’s restaurant offers great meals, the options are somewhat limited compared to larger, more upscale hotels in the area. There are not many nearby restaurants within walking distance.

Pricing: Good Value for Money
Rooms start around $120 USD per night, including breakfast. Given the spacious rooms and amenities, it’s a reasonable choice for travelers looking for an affordable stay in southern Trinidad. Booking in advance, especially during peak seasons, is recommended.

The Lobby Bar
The bar, currently known as The Lobby, is a great place to get cocktails and apps. The prices are extremely affordable and they often have great specials. You will see many locals grabbing a drink here!

Other Recommendations in the Area
You don’t want to miss catching the sunset at the nearby Lady Hailes Avenue. Learn more about this experience here.

Would I Recommend It?
Yes, but with managed expectations. Paria Suites is a budget-friendly option with a peaceful atmosphere, decent amenities, and good service. However, it lacks the polish of a true luxury stay. If you need a comfortable, no-frills place to sleep in southern Trinidad, it’s a solid choice.
