The Fish Pot Tobago: Best Seafood Restaurant in Black Rock
If you’re searching for the best seafood in Tobago, look no further than The Fish Pot in Black Rock . This cozy, family-run restaurant is well-loved for its fresh, locally sourced seafood and warm, laid-back ambiance. Whether you’re craving perfectly grilled fish, a nice creamy pasta, local sides or a refreshing glass of rum punch, The Fish Pot offers an authentic Tobago dining experience.
We strongly recommend everyone visits this restaurant at least once during a trip to Tobago. But if you are anything like us, you will continue to return time and time again!

Location and Atmosphere
Set in the laid-back village of Black Rock, The Fish Pot offers a breezy, open-air dining experience on a covered patio surrounded by lush greenery. From certain seats, you can catch a distant glimpse of the sea beyond the treetops, adding to the relaxed, tropical vibe. The décor is rustic and full of character—white shutters frame the patio, the day’s offerings are handwritten on a whiteboard, and there’s a charming mix of island-style furnishings and personal touches.
Keep an eye out for the restaurant’s two friendly resident cats, Boots and Shadow, who often wander between tables. The atmosphere feels authentically Tobagonian, right down to the occasional cluck of chickens from the neighbouring yard—one even strutted onto the patio during my visit before being gently shooed away by the staff. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels delightfully unpolished in the best way, adding to its unique charm.

The Menu: Fresh Seafood at Its Best
As the name suggests, The Fish Pot Tobago specializes in fresh, locally caught seafood, prepared with Caribbean flavours. The menu changes based on availability, ensuring only the freshest ingredients make it to your plate.
This is likely where you will find the freshest fish being served. We can attest to the freshness as we’ve witnessed the local fisherman making his daily delivery here.
The lunch and dinner menus do vary – so we strongly suggest you plan at least two separate visits here to experience both. We love to start the meal with their fresh tomato and feta salad. At lunch time I like to pair the catch of the day with their delicious pasta. Whereas at dinner time I like to pair the catch of the day (or steak) with a baked potato and local sides. The fresh table bread served at dinnertime is heavenly.
Pair your meal with a glass of wine or a refreshing cocktail for the full experience. My go-to cocktail here is a rum punch or a margarita. Cheers!
