Caffè Mia Tobago: The Best Pasta & Sourdough on the Island Reopens in 2025
After a long closure during the pandemic, Caffè Mia in Lowlands, Tobago has triumphantly reopened its doors in 2025. For years, this Italian bistro has been a cornerstone of Tobago’s dining scene, offering hearty pasta, homemade bread, and a blend of Roman charm with Caribbean warmth. Its return feels like a homecoming for both locals and visitors who have missed its familiar flavours and inviting atmosphere.

Rediscovering a Local Gem
Caffè Mia is simple, authentic Italian fare in a cozy, café-style setting. Prices are affordable and the food consistently delivers.
The restaurant is located just off the Claude Noel Highway in Lowlands, at 4 Hibiscus Drive. Parking is available in the building across the street.
The front patio feels like a little slice of Italy, with lush vines and plants giving the atmosphere of a rustic Roman terrace. Though road-facing, only a few local cars pass by, keeping it peaceful. In the past, we’ve also enjoyed dining in the backyard garden, which has an incredible vibe of its own.

Our Most Recent Visit
We’ve dined at Caffè Mia multiple times, and each visit has been a treat. On our most recent dinner, we experienced everything from crisp wine to indulgent pasta, finishing with the perfect dessert.
Drinks
We began with a refreshing Pinot Grigio, but the menu also offers cocktails, spirits, and non-alcoholic options. A nearby table could be overhead raving about the hot chocolate.

Appetizers
The fried calamari was golden and crunchy ($75 TTD), and the bruschetta of the day ($60 TTD) was served on their fresh homemade sourdough bread. On this visit, it was topped with eggplant and tomato—fresh, savoury, and flavourful. On a previous visit, we tried it with caramelized onions, which was equally delicious.

Mains
The Italian sausage penne pasta ($140 TTD) came with a creamy sauce that was rich and comforting, while the ravioli was the clear star of the night—homemade pasta stuffed with savoury beef ragu. This ravioli dish was a special for the night, so it may not be available all the time.
We are still thinking about our pasta dishes… yum! Caffe Mia deserves the top spot for The Best Pasta In Tobago.

Dessert
Despite being full, we couldn’t resist dessert. We shared a cannoli, which was the perfect sweet ending—light, crisp, and not overly sweet. But the cannoli is just the beginning: Caffè Mia also offers cheesecake, tiramisu, cupcakes, and much more, all baked in-house by Indra. Their desserts are the perfect way to finish any meal, whether you’re looking for something light and delicate or indulgent and rich.

Their sourdough bread has become a Sunday ritual for us—we pick up a loaf almost every week, and it’s easily some of the best bread we’ve ever tasted.
Service & Atmosphere
The service was warm and pleasant throughout. We dined on a rainy, overcast evening, yet the terrace still felt inviting and cozy. When you find yourself in Tobago and crave a European escape, make your way to Caffè Mia.
The soul of Caffè Mia comes from its husband-and-wife team, Marcello and Indra. Together, they create not only delicious food but also a welcoming, family-like atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.

New Hours & Offerings
Caffè Mia is now open Thursday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. On certain Sundays, you’ll also find a British-style roast.
