Direct Flights to Tobago

The most straightforward way to get to Tobago is by flying directly into A.N.R. Robinson International Airport (TAB), located in Crown Point, Tobago. However, direct flights to Tobago are only available from select international locations. This is largely due to the lack of large hotel chains and resorts on the island (which drives flight demand, incentivizes major airlines, etc.).

Connect via Trinidad

Although there are few international direct flights to Tobago, there are plenty heading to Trinidad. So for most people, you will be required to fly to Trinidad first and then take another flight or the ferry over to Tobago.

Travel between the sister islands is quick and convenient with Caribbean Airlines, offering flights that take just 25 minutes. The cost is approx. $40 USD per way. Make sure you book your inter-island travel in advance!

With daily and hourly departures, it’s easy to connect from Trinidad’s Piarco International Airport (POS), which is serviced by several major international carriers, including American Airlines, Jet Blue, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, British Airways, Frontier Airlines, Air Canada, Copa Airlines, and United.

If you are flying business class out of POS you will have complementary access to the Caribbean Airlines Lounge. This can be especially nice if you have a few hours between your connecting flights as there is hot food, cold drinks and a quiet space to relax.

Inter-Island Ferry Service

For those who prefer a more scenic route or are looking for a more affordable option, taking the inter-island ferry service between Trinidad and Tobago is a great option.

The ferry offers both economy and premium classes. On my most recent ferry trip, I booked premium tickets for the first time and I highly recommend. Premium allows you to board first, you have an incredible view at the front of the boat, a private bar and private washrooms.

The ferry is not for the faint of heart, I strongly recommend you take Gravol prior to sailing. The waves can be intense and many people find themselves seasick.
